TRANSCENDING NATIONS

Writer's picture: Chris ChoaChris Choa

I'm pleased to be included in recent issue of mega (a partnership with Pictet Asset Management, focused on mega-trend thematic investment).

I've been thinking about the powers of agglomeration. We intuitively understand the power of hubs, but we're also evolving to become increasingly interested in outcomes. What can hubs - and cities in particular - do for us?

Cities and other hubs face similar challenges: demographic change, mass-migration, and disruptive technology. Some large-scale systems are performing better while simultaneously creating internal imbalances and inequalities.

We concentrate on how we intend to adapt to challenges and imbalances. But perhaps we can think more about what we actually want, and how the challenges and imbalances can benefit us.
